    hey guys,

i think all of us might have the same issues with BF3.

game runs pretty good but screen gets black/greyish after playing for a while.
i'm pretty sure it's not a hardware issue, my laptop doesn't crash at all. its possible to close BF3.exe @ task manager...

    my drivers:
newest HP drivers (9-16) + AMD 11.10 v3 on top.

would be nice if anyone has a solution for this...

    UPDATE (03/28/12):
    WE FOUND A SOLUTION:

    driver download: http://leshcat.blogspot.de/2012/03/hi-again-leshcats-catalyst-12.html
    installation manual (READ!): https://docs.google.com/document/pub...KFfGP7tI&pli=1

BF3 runs smooth with a combination of high and medium settings, but the DNA 11.10 Prev 3 driver crashes the game at random points. I am trying to get back to an older driver. Overclocking doesn't work in my favor with the Prev 3, by the way.

It'd be great if AMD comes out with an update for the final BF3 release. I will try DNA 11.9 and report back.

the Final 11.10 should be coming out in a few days, which will probably include an update for BF3. Nice to see that it's running well on the 6770m for others, I will probably buy it now :)

Get the Digital Download for $50 off Amazon or I could give you a Origin discount code to get it off Origin for the same price :).

    in catalyst cc / software.

some facts about performance of the final version (still crashes after a while). recorded with FRAPS and driver is 11.10 preview 3.

    1368*768, LOW
    operation metro: 50-70 FPS
    caspian border: 40-60 FPS

    1600*900, LOW
    caspian border: 35-50 FPS

    1600*900, AUTO (HIGH-MED)
    caspian border: 17-30

    system:
    i5-2410m
    6770m
    8gb

i recommend using low settings because it feels MUCH smoother than auto and still doesnt look that bad

For some reason, the CCC kept showing driver version as 11.10 even after I uninstalled the DNA built and re-installed from scratch.

I have moved back to the HP driver for now, and waiting on a new driver release by AMD.

Im really fed up with this computer.

Mine runs really well at mostly high settings at 1366x768, EXCEPT for ground texture flickering and crashing to desktop after 10 minutes or so. It's weird, I didn't have any problems with the beta.

The BETA was running an older code as per the BF3 blog. The 11.10 prev 3 is causing the texture flickering. I had that too, but I downgraded to the HP driver release and its all good now. Running a combo of High, Medium and Low @ 30-40 FPS.

i'm gonna try HP's stock drivers (9-16) after work too.
and about your CCC still showing 11.10 after removing DNA, next time do it like that:

remove ALL ati software, use driver sweeper, reboot, install HP's newest drivers (intel&amd package), install AMD driver of your choice on top of that (only the display driver, not all the other sh** in the CCC package)

Hp's latest drivers CRASHES as well. Its ATIKMDAG.sys error. In few minutes subsequent to Gameplay, it just Freezes and black screen appears without a signal. Alt tabbing to go back Windows screen and hardly catching the Display driver stopped responding Error. Tried to convert back to Windows 7 Basic theme but no chance of any lucks.

By My side, it's a bios related error connected to Graphic Card's gpu. I really would love to see if we have any chance on modding this bios.

Suspicious about Hp's latest available driver as well, because main functions are not changing even if we update the newer drivers like (Dna or 11.10-3) prev drivers ON IT.

Hp service Clearly DOESNT CARE and is NOT AWARE of this situation. They are not well enough to analyze this problem which i tried to fix many times by calling them as well.

Event viewer log shows as well ''amdkmdap display driver stopped responding and recovered''

Interesting that, it's not happening when i play Black ops, or Bad Company 2 though.

*Edit: Found that Windowed Mode is running without Crashes for an hour..

Preview 2 gives me no crashes or flickering. I haven't played multiplayer yet however. Playing on all low, haven't checked the FPS, but it's acceptable. The graphics are outstanding on low too

i dont know if the drivers or the game is at fault, but a lot of settings look the same.

shadows, medium is good enough rather than ultra.
texture, low or ultra looks same to me i dont know why...
HBAO must be on for me same with motion.
everything else on ultra with ATI's special AA (a lot more performance) no AA in game.

1138x640, it doesnt look super sharp but it looks amazing and plays VERY well.

Hi. I've played Battlefield 3 in windowed mode (i can't get in full screen) and this is my results with FRAPS

    settings low 1600x900 18 fps
    settings medium 1600x900 19 fps
    settings low 1366x768 20 fps

I've downloaded latest drivers from amd's site
    My laptop is pavilion dv7 i7 2630 with 6770 (1gig) and 8 gig RAM

So please tell me what do you have inside your laptop that you have 40 fps settings medium?

I had lied. The flickering was gone when I did single player, but came back in multiplayer.

On the plus side, the performance is great with the HP drivers. No flickering, no crashes.

Guys, I have managed to play BF3 Multiplayer @ 30-45 FPS with a combo of Low-High settings and I am now rank 8 without any freezes, texture flickering or crashes.

    - I am using the HP drivers package for DV6t 6100 CTO.

    - Stock GPU. No overclocking!

    - You need at least 30 FPS for a smooth gameplay.

    - Here are my settings:

    - You can check your in-game FPS by going into console ( press ~ key below the ESC) and type in " render.drawfps 1" without the quotes of course. Replace 1 with 0 to turn it off.

It looks decent and the gameplay is smooth as well. I don't have the option to be picky between SSAO and HBAO so I am sticking with SSAO. If anyone is able to get a better settings or better FPS at higher settings on a overclocked GPU please let us know!

11.10 Preview 3 Works without FPS decrease in Windowed mode greatly. But still could't figure out why the hell it's crashing on fullscreen mode. Killable only from the Task manager.

I really didn't recognize any fps difference with SSAO/HBAO really. It gave a Crash on Windowed mode too after 3 hours of gameplay. It's really very annoying.

right now the best solution for me is:

    - HP drivers (9-16)
    - punkbuster disabled server

i read a lot about crash/freeze issues with punkbuster and it seems the best way to avoid the PB servers

Try Installing latest Hp drivers and plus Latest Ati drivers from Ati Website 11.9 on it.
Increase the Gpu 850 / Mem 900 or equavalent clocks, finally adjust the Voltage to 1052 or 1053. Mine Completely got away from crashes when i adjusted the Voltage. Dont know but it downclocks properly this time.
    Give it a try imo.

You never have to OC. I'm running on stock with medium-high settings and getting 30-40 fps consistently (on 11.9). Crashes seem to be slightly reduced by manually updating Punkbuster.

i just installed it over 11.9 and it updated all other components (installer, SDK, hydra...) except the AMD catalyst driver which stayed as is and the installer said it is already up to date (kept this option grayed out - untickable)

My catalyst control center has a new look now but under software information it still says Catalyst version: 11.9 !!

Why not 11.10? and why didn't allow e to tick the driver option in the installation menu?

My switchable graphics are still working at the least...

I dont think it's a reboot issue since the catalyst 11,10 display driver was not installed in the first place; it was greyed out.

Do you think i will risk losing the switchable graphics function if i did a clean install replacing the stock drivers from HP?

Can I delete all the AMD drivers (uninstall the device from device manager) then do a clean install of the 11.10 from AMD website and still be able to switch between intel and AMD 6770M?

greyed out? what is your previous driver?

I had (and still have) the 11.9 driver! It got updated when I downloaded and installed the performace fix for Rage from AMD, and it kept the switchable graphics function unaffected.

However now the released 11.10 won't accept to update the driver, yet it updated all the other components. My catalyst version number still reads 11.9.

did anyone try 11.10 WHQL? i heard that theres no difference between 11.10 v3 and 11.10 whql. can anyone confirm that BF3 still crashes with 11.10 WHQL?
