I have installed witcher 2 and its fully updates to 1.2. Also I have fully updated my catalyst drivers. With all of this i get about 20 fps regardless of what resolution and settings i use. The only time the game becomes playable is when i lower resolution to like 300x 200. then i get like 50 fps. Is anybody else having this problem?

are you sure it's set to the 6770m and not the intel graphics?

I'm having similar issues as well. Most of the time the FPS is in the range of 20-30 FPS. Unlike you, though, it goes up to 30-40 for me if I go to the Low preset. Everything else, though, yields similar FPS numbers.

I've mentioned this before on this forum, but I have a feeling that the 6770m is set to under-perform when it doesn't feel the need to use all of its resources. As you may have noticed, the clock speeds reported in GPU-Z and other programs consistently stays at 100/80 mhz if it is not being used. I'm suspecting that something similar is going on with TW2.

Another interesting observation: When I play The Witcher 1, the GPU temps go up to 76 degrees, and the FPS numbers stay outrageously high. However, with TW2, the temps only go up to ~65 degrees.

Kind of a dumb question, but I'm curious and wanna test it on my copy of TW2. How do you check the frame rates of a game?

Use Fraps - It's one of the most widely used applications to view your FPS in-game, and it doubles as a video recorder should you ever want to record your gaming session.

What's the difference between the paid version and free version?

the paid allows you to save screenshots as jpg and other file formts instead of only bitmap, also i think you can make longer videos

Turn off ubersampling if you haven't already. This should give you a dramatic boost in FPS.

Also, if you want even more FPS, turn off SSAO.

I've been playing on medium at 1920x1080 with those two settings turned off and a lot of the other settings set higher than the medium default. It looks great and plays very smoothly.

Also, I'm still running the stock drivers. So perhaps this is an issue with the newer drivers from AMD?

lol ive turned everything off. frames still stay the same. i know that i should be able to play at medium. The problem seems driver related. What drivers are you running?

Where is the ubersampling option? I don't see it under advanced options for the game graphics. I turned just SSAO off and I'm getting about 15-25fps on medium :(

where did u buy this game from? you could be experiencing this because you received a version with DRMs on the .exe, which for some reason hurts the performance of the game.

try replacing the paul.dll file and the .exe file with a DRM free version (like GOG or steam version) and see if that helps

now if you already have the steam version or good old games version then dont worry about this post :p

edit: if u cant find those files, give me your email address and ill send my versions to you once its done installing and ive tested it a bit to see if that is in fact the issue

I think the first patch they released uninstalls the DRM files. I'm running the patched retail version, and the game plays very well at high resolution on my system.
