I am looking at getting either a 6500t or 2500t. I was wondering if it is worth to upgrade to the 7300 core 2 duo or just stick with the 7100. I am bringing it to college next year and I doubt I'll need anything to fancy mainly just school work/web surfing and occasional dvd and game. I heard from someone that the 7300 overheats too much and gets less battery life. Any truth to that? What do you think would be best?

yes....
the faster, the less battery time. there isn;t really big difference in each one of them, but rams and vid are first stuff to look at. however the overheating can be solved. by underclocking the core. ex like mine 55 to 43 -
Actually there is a big difference. The T7100 has 2MB L2 cache, the T7300 has double that, 4MB. I'm willing to bet there will be more than just a minor difference in performance between the two chips.
Also, the TDP between the T7100 and the T7300 are identical at 35W, and the T7300 has a lower minimum voltage, and a higher maximum voltage (meaning it will be cooler on battery power, but hotter on AC power).
I would personally go for the upgrade. -
the performance gain isn't much. Upgrade only if the money isn't better spent else where.
7100 or 7300
