    Which of the above would you say is better overall? I would prefer the ssd but only a 160gb ssd is being offered.

    Which will offer faster bootup?

    Ok, so to answer my own post...

    It's not going to really matter, because ultimately I'm going to replace theHDD with an SSD.
    I just won't get it from HP.

    Then I would get whatever is the default drive that doesn't cost any extra (then use it for a backup drive).
