I'm fairly new to these forums and I know how it's like when veterans have to answer some frequenly asked questions, but bear with me...

I have the Pavilion dv7-6c02em with the amd 7690m XT 2gb graphics card.I love this laptop,it never gets overheated, runs great and the drivers I have are stable altho they sometimes crash while switching to fullscreen in minceraft...But I feel like this graphics card can do more,I get around 600 graphics score in 3dmark11 which is pretty horrible(should be getting around 1500) I overclock my memory from 800mhz to 900 and get a small fps increase while the temps are around 75 celsius(sometimes can go up to 83),but I see people talking about running bf3 on ultra with 40-50 fps and I'm always at about 20 on ultra-high. I have Powerplay on at maximize performance and some other tweaks that dont actually do anything and I can see my cpu usage at 99% in bf3 and crysis 2. Is there something I can do to increase my performance? Ill post some screenshots if you guys wanna help me...
Btw the benchmark is in extreme mode
Also,if there isnt anything major I can do, what settings do I tweak in Catalyst to get max performance? I put the slider to optimal performance, but it doesnt do anything,in fact optimal quality has a higher score.
Edit: I was playing crysis 2 on 15 fps ultra as usual and I get to another level, then BAM...fps is 35-45 and im out in the open,50 aliens are shooting at me,I just blew up a building and fps is silky smooth but I guess it will go down eventually
    Thanks in advance.

First...don't run 3DMark11 in Extreme mode. Run in performance mode...that is the norm. Also...when testing...try with Powerplay on and off and compare.

Your gpu might be underclocking itself. Run a game and keep gpuz running in the back to make sure its running at normal clocks.

Its usually at 725 ghz so that's good, but I think I have to optimize it..anyway ill post those screenshots,i get around 1600 in performance mode so turns out that is kinda good. And when I have powerplay on,my clock wont go over 100 so its definately helping

running Battlefield3 on ULTRA is pointless, if you ask me. run it on HIGH if you really insist on having good quality textures in multiplayer maps. also, make a file named user.cfg in the same folder as bf3.exe and put the following lines in it:

do you use optifine for multi-core processors for minecraft? It broke my 7690m xt twice (I found out its the cause the second time it happened). Only a windows reinstall fixed it. When it was broken, performance was terrible and all benchmark scores were oddly low. Re-installing drivers didnt fix so I took extreme measures... and it works great again now. Idk if this applies to you though.

Actually,I didnt use anything to boost minecraft...I tried Icenchancer for gta 4 which ran horribly and made my computer overheat and bsod on top of adding gta 4 to startup list.So I deleted everything related to gta,I have it on ps3 allready...

I dont wanna reopen a new question,so I hope people will se this one. I was thinking of installing unofficial leshcat drivers for my card, but as it requires a lot of stuff like deleting drivers,I wanted to know if these are reliable and is there a way I can backup my drivers before installing

I tried installing a 12.5 beta I got from the AMD site and my lappy blackscreened while gaming. I reverted back to the factory drivers in safe mode and now I am good to go again. I am not sure if this is a newer version of the beta or not though.

This is on the 7850m though.......

    Install this:
    http://www2.ati.com/drivers/hotfix/catalyst_12.7_hotfixes/catalyst_12-7_beta_windows7_20120629.exe

    Then this:
    http://www2.ati.com/drivers/hotfix/catalyst_application_profiles/amd_catalyst_12.7_cap1.exe

This will ensure that the latest hotfixes are applied.

So far these drivers seem to work great. Thanks Mac. I don't know about performance increase just yet as I have been working tons. You notice any change? Any of the 7690 XT users have better luck with these drivers vs previous?

Update: I installed these drivers,my card shows up as 6700 series.Battlefield is unchanged, openGL games now work as they should, but I get a lower benchmark score in Rage and textures need a while to pop up(memory management problem of 6700 drivers). So I reverted back to my old drivers and I have to install leshcat, but I'm kinda skeptical about how they will work(mainly the installation process). If anyone can show me how to make a fail-proof backup, please share

Update2: I installed leshcat and they aren't that good,in fact they are the same as mac's drvers,so I reverted to the old ones until we get something better
