    Hi,

I'm trying to set a power-on-password for my HP Elitebook 8440p. The BIOS doesn't really make it clear which setting this is. There is an option called DriveLock, is this the equivalent of a power-on-password? Whenever I select DriveLock it tells me it is temporarily unavailable on this drive and to restart the machine, which has no effect on the setting.

If anyone has any thoughts i'd appreciate it.

    Cheers

Ah, if you want pre-boot authentication, you'll need to go through the setup wizard on the ProtectTools suite. The nice thing is that you can even use fingerprint or smartcard authentication.
