I was wondering if it was possible to get the laptop to wake up when the lid is opened? Currently, you can put it to sleep by closing the lid, but when you open the lid you have to push the power button to wake it back up. I haven't seen any option in the power settings to do this either. Thanks!

This is not possible as it requires hardware/BIOS support. The OS cannot know when the lid is opened if it's in a suspend state.

Well this laptop is less than a year old, and it has the ambient light sensor on it that would make me think that it would have the lid open/close sensor, but I guess not.

You should be able to open the lid and hit the "any" key and the laptop should come out of sleep mode. Hibernation would require hitting the power key, as I recall.

I have a laptop that is about 2 years old and opens on lid action,i'm suprised HP's laptops don't wake from sleep when the lid is opened.
