    Hi!
I need to change HDD in my 8510p, Will the Seagate Momentus 7200.3 320 GB (7200, 16MB, Serial ATA/300, G-Force) be a good choice? It has got Serial ATA/300 interface and I am not sure that this will work with 8510p?

    Thanks

Yes it will work and yes it's a good choice.

You should be able to get it for less than $100.

SATA-300 is backward compatible to SATA-150. But your notebook is SATA-300 compliant, so the HDD should run at full bandwidth with AHCI enabled. (Though bandwidth/max throughput doesn't really affect HDD performance)

SATA2 support was added in the ICH8 Mobile versions.

SATA2 (300MB/s) won't boost performance, as HDDs barely reach 90MB/s.
That drive will give the same performance even in UDMA 5 mode (100MB/s). Plus, SATA2 also increases power consumption.

    To Tangseng:

    I wrote SATA which means SATA-150 MB/s or SATA-300 MB/s. ;)
