Just purchased a HP 8510p from where I work at a discount but it came with only a 80GB hard drive that I would like to replace. Can I purchase any hard drive that will fit or do I have to get a certain model to work with the HP shock protection?

You need a SATA hard drive, beyond that you can choose which HD. I'm using the 7k200 in my 8510p. It works very well. Replacing the HD is also really easy. I suggest doing a clean install on the new HD, that's much easier than cloning for me and I wanted to do a clean install anyway.

Just make sure it's 9.5 mm and not 12.5 mm.
