Besides the obvious difference in video cards, layout, and overall design, does either one of these laptops have an advantage over the other?
Basically I need this for audio recording work, and HP commonly builds these laptops with TI(texas instruments) firewire ports which is a good thing.
Also, can either of these models be expanded with an 2nd internal harddrive.
thanks

Business laptops have better build and reliability.

Neither of those laptops have a 2nd HDD bay. The only HP laptops that can expand to 2 HDDs to my knowledge is the DV9500t and the HDX simply because there is more room and better heat management. I looked at the HP business laptops and I don't think any of them have a 2nd HDD bay, but I could be wrong.

There is at most 2-4 bloatware softwares preinstalled, all relatively nice and easy to remove. 10 minutes tops, as opposed to 3 hours to clean a HP consumer laptop (at least that is my personal best time).

Well, the dv6500t is certainly less expensive... not sure how big of a deal cost is for you, but for most people, the business notebooks are just too expensive (although like greg said, HP's consumer laptops are loaded with bloatware).

The business models all come with a three year waranty which costs $300+ on the consumer side. If you want the coverage (as I did) the price differential is greatly reduced. The 8510p is a superior machine both in build and graphics card. But then again it depends on how you plan on using your computer. I suspect many of us are over buying. Just like cars these days, most of the time a my V6 engine is fine how often could I hae really used a V8?
