    Hello!

I have a HP8510p with 1 2gb chip in it. I'm thinking of upgrading to 4gb total but I was wondering if there were any disadvantages going with non HP ram. I'm looking for DDR2 SDRAM SODIMM PC2-5300 2gb at the moment. Is this correct?

NEVER!!! NEVER!!! buy RAM from the manufacturer it is a complete rip off get the minimum amount of RAM and buy 4GB off newegg or at FRYS.

And yes DDR2 SDRAM SODIMM PC2-5300 is the right type of RAM.

jooeee's right, no reason at all to buy from hp

you can buy it cheaper and in many cases, better quality from newegg, tiger, etc.

find the best price and go for it..........

Just avoid G.SKILL memory, and find a brand that offers a lifetime warranty.

HP memory is an absolute rip off, especially since they use generic bull-crap vendors.
