Hi,
I recently purchased a HP Compaq 8510w (C2D T9300, 4Gb). Given it was my first notebook, I was initially very excited, also, given its cost and its business/professional orientation I have to admit I expected a lot. But, HP, who I previously had a very high opinion of, has not lived up to this expectation, specifically in terms of build quality.
It all started when about 3 days after I picked it up, the video card died. Although this is more bad luck than a brand issue, and while it was quickly replaced, this very early failure obviously didnt fill me with confidence.
Since then, two other (although less major) quality issues have arisen. Firstly the lid/screen seems to be a bit warped at one corner such that when closed, there is an obvious gap... Secondly there is the issue of an uneven keyboard, specifically there is a bulge in it, at about the y or 7 keys. Im wondering if the fact that this is pretty much above where the video card sits is just a coincidence, or something more sinister...
Anyway, what I would like to know is does anyone else have such a keyboard bulge? I really cant remember if this was always the case, or if it got worse after the video card was replaced, but if it is a standard feature of this model I could probably feel a bit better, otherwise, maybe there is something funny with the new video card installation...
Thanks
