I've talked to three people at HP now, and received three different answers to whether or not I can run Vista Ultimate x64. The first guy on the phone said "no, you can't run it". The next person via online chat said "it's not recommended". And the third lady on the phone said you can run Ultimate x64 on the 8510w, but I'd have to install it myself because it won't be an option during the sale.
So, I have an OEM copy Ultimate x64. And I can go find all my drivers, or even try the ones they send on the driver disk for Vista Business x64. Will I be able to blow away the HDD upon arrival and install my Ultimate x64 edition? It seems simple enough i just wanted some assurance, and I didn't really get any from HP.

Running ultimate x64 should not be a problem with the 8510w. HP does offer 64bit drivers for the 8510w but curiously enough they place it under Vista Business and Enterprise editions only. But those drivers should work fine with Ultimate x64 as well since pretty much all versions of Vista are the same underneath.
I am not quite familiar with the business models but before you wipe the HD to install the OS make sure you burn any recovery DVD's and download the drivers from HP's website.
