hey everybody out here ... I would need your help, please.

I am setting up a new workspace to use Office, Skype, MindManager (no games, video production or alike) right now and need to buy some new equipment. I have bought a the 2 LP2475w already and they look simple great. So far so good.

Initially I had in mind to connect them to a XW6600 workstation, but now I believe it is more suitable to go for notebook. I like the 8530w, but ...

Can I connect the 2 monitors to that notebook ???

    - can I use the notebooks VGA and HDMI port to run the monitors at the same time in full 1920x1200 resolution ??
    - or do I need one of the 4 available dockingstations to do so ??
    - do I see any difference on the screen if one is analog VGA and the other digital DVI/HDMI

HP Sales or Support do not answer the question, however the flyer is stating "dual link DVI"

Or should I go for external solution with e.g. MatroxDualHead2 Go DIgital ???

Any input and help is welcome,

    Markus

Dual link DVI is the version of DVI which allows the connection of high-resolution displays (for example 30"). Single link DVI is limited in the resolution in can display. It just means more pins on the DVI connector are actually used, not that you can connect 2 displays.

I have the Advanced Docking Station for my 8730w and it has only one dual-link DVI connector. I suppose I would be able to connect 2 displays by using the DVI on the docking station and the HDMI on the notebook itself but I haven't checked yet.

ok, then we have the DVI dual link issue sorted out ...

    But my "problem" remains.

How do I run both LP2475w (in my stock) from a notebook (8530w preferred) ??

I'm pretty sure you won't be able to output to the DVI and HDMI port at the same time, normally its one of the other but I could be wrong. If you really need to span to more than two monitors Matrox offers an external box that'll scale it to the two monitors native resolutions giving you one massive display

I can't post a link yet but go to Matrox.com and look at their Graphics Expansion Modules. It'll run you around $250 for the dual monitor DVI version from CDW.
