I emailed Hp customer support regrading the clock speed of nvidia Geforce 8600m GS today. Acorrding the nvidia's website, it's clearly underclocked (500/400), I tried to use Ntune to adjust the clock speed to 600/700, but computer just freeze.
after 3 email, they have no cule about the reason for this. so they asked for my phone number, and try to get a supervisor to contact me.
quote:
in this regard I would like to inform that HP Notebooks
preinstalled with OEM version OS are customized according to the
requirement and performance of the Notebook.
It is apparent that this issue requires the personal attention of a
supervisor. Please get back to me with the following information
I got a call from a supervisor this afternoon, he told me he doesn't know the reason for this either, he said this question is too detail for technical support. lol.

Clock speed is determined by manufacturer of the laptop; speed shown at nvidia's site is only recommended and may vary among different manufacturers, their models and even different BIOSes.
-
anyone had any lucky bumping the clock speeds on the 9500
-
hmm i think someone in here did or maybe that was for another laptop with the 8600m gs, either way they have been able to overclock so your situation maybe limited to your own laptop....
-
I don't think it is a good idea to call HP about overclocking your graphics card...lol
-
I'm surprised they were so helpful even though you told them you overclocked it. Most companies would void your warranty on the spot.

Warranty. lawl.
