This is with the 8710p? I wasn't aware it was offered in WXGA. Anyhow, the price jump isn't that strange, the processor is a couple hundred dollars anyway.

Processor prices, added features, and other such items easily bring up the cost of notebooks.

Namely the T7500. Big time price jump right there.

Why do you really need WSXGA?

That would only be with Intel's new prices, however those won't be reflected in HP's prebuilt models. Going from the T7300 to the T7500 could reasonably be up to $200 or so right there.

Afaik, the difference between the T7300 and the T7500 is 100$, when it comes to HP.

As for the prebuilt models, they are usually other differences between them, so it's not only the CPU...

    Exactly.

I suggest looking up the closely listed specs of each model, and comparing them. Chances are you'll see that the models do differ more so than the CPU type.

either way for what they add on for each thing is ridiculous.. i understand that the pricing was pre-intel price drop but like everyone else is doing they need to conform to new pricing and either imo release a deal or coupon code or something or discount them...part of the business they know after a while they may take a hit on them...

HP don't care about average consumers, they sell their business notebooks to big companies and probably offer discounts for them, so really they don't make money from people like you nor do they plan to...

Yeah, the pricing structure may not really make sense for their individual consumer sales. On corporate sales, however, they are priced very competitively since the bulk of their corporate notebooks are sold to businesses who buy a lot of them, not regular consumers like us. HP expects regular consumers to purchase their consumer line, not their corporate products.
