    Hi,
Is this model (8710p) capable of an optical drive upgrade?
Specifically, is it capable of accepting any after market blu ray drives?

I know that it was available as an option with the T7500 when I bought my T7300......and hp.ca shows a model that might fit, but it is listed at over $1,000! (450489-001)

Has anyone upgraded this model with any other drive?

BTW, my laptop has the GSA-T20N now.

Physically, it should be upgradeable. I know the drive is easy to remove, you need to find a compatible replacement. I'm pretty sure all 12.5mm drives would work.

I was doing a search for the Blue-Ray drive, didn't turn out any results though. But yeah, as Gred said, it is upgradable.
