8800m Gts - Hdx 9250ea

Hello =)

I uninstalled my current graphics driver that was on this laptop, and ran some nVidia removal tool for drivers, restarted the machine and went to update using the 174.74 Vista 32 Bit drivers.

The installation just kept on saying nothing has been modified but it completed.

Same issue with 174.60 Vista 32bit...... tried doing it via Device Manager, but says best drivers already installed which are the Vista standard ones.

Aero has been turned off, and Graphics rating is 1 in the Performance window.

Any ideas on how to install them?

If you haven't tried, go to laptopvideo2go.com.

They have an HP specific INF that goes into the unzipped driver folder. Should be in their "news" section for quick access. Download it and place it in your 174 folder. It should say you are replacing another INF. Then run setup straight from the driver folder. You might want to download the 174.74 from there just to be safe. It worked like a charm on my HDX. Good luck and let us know.

Still confused =(

I downloaded both the driver and modded INF on the laptopvideo2go website for the 174.74 and 174.60.

Is that the wrong INF? Has anyone got a direct link to it please? Like a download link, as I was not able to find it in your link, hovercraftdriver.

Do I just copy and paste it into the Driver extracted folder and run setup.exe

Click on that link and go to the bottom of that 1st post. It's easy to miss. Kinda small link...

 

Also make sure you follow the guy's directions to set your GPU memory size to 512

Got the INF and the drivers!

Still confused about what I'm changing.

I have opened the nv_disp.inf into Notepad but do not see:

HKR,, D3D_92521178, %REG_DWORD%, 0 ; Enable PCI Texture Memory Limit Size of XX MB*

Do I have to add it myself? If so, where? I thought I had to change it, but there is no line like that in the .inf file =S

I have 512MB dedicated..... is that the amount I put in or the Total Shared amount?

Hey bud,

About half-way down the text file you will see this line:

HKR,, D3D_92521178, %REG_DWORD%, 512

It's a stand alone line in between two larger lists with similar language. It should say 128 where mine says 512. That's all you change, set it to 512. Save. Insert in driver files folder and run set-up from the driver folder.
