I have a customers g72 and as most know it has the straight in
plug on the power pack. Does anyone know if there is a
90 degree adapter for this unit so when it's bumped it
doesn't break loose the DC jack inside the unit, or is there
a power supply that has the 90 degree plug that will
accommodate this unit ? Why HP ever sold this unit with
a straight in adapter I'll never know..

I have to replace the inside jack, but it would be sweet if
some kind of adapter was avail.

    Please enlighten if you will..

    Thanks

    Well I didn't get any response regarding a 90
degree adapter for the G, I thought I would give
any who might be interested a heads up. DON'T
BUMP THE PLUG IN. You'll find once you open the
unit up that the dc jack is held in place by a mickey
mouse plastic pc on the frame that has the jack sliding
down into it and held in place on the one side of
by this a VERY skinny cleat. The jack slips down
and is supposed to be held in in's place. The "cleat"
or catch is VERY small, half the width of a paper
    match stick.

It can easily be bent "back" and won't keep
it "latched" due to heat or abuse. The housing for the
jack is metal. Why HP ever came up with a cheap
a$$ container for a jack that is encompassed in
metal while retained by this cheap plastic housing
WITH a straight plug is beyond me save for the
reasoning that it would be costly to repair sent in
by the customer, but cheaply repaired by the vendor
via a new housing or at worse a completely new
    plastic bottom assy..

So do yourself a favor. Look around for a 90 degree
plug power pack that has the large barrel that fits the
G72 so as to cut down on possible breakage or find a
way to reinforce the cradle for the jack. If not, you
may find that charging may be affected.

    Just my 0.02..

PS. I'm not here to cut MFG's or sponsors of their
products, but a G72-250US was at one time an expensive
unit and for something like this to slip by production was
or is not right. I'm a working stiff most like the rest of
you and my money comes hard as does my little clientele.
So MFG's listen up. We are the ones BUYING, NOT the other
    way around.
