The 9500's HDMI works as an "OUT" correct? I cannot import content from my Dish DVR Vip622 into my notebook? The DVR has HDMI and USB (out)ports. In the Dish manual under USB it notes "Connect to PocketDISH and other multimedia devices". Can I view and record from the USB of the Dish receiver to the 9500? Will there be audio?

    Thanks!

The 9500's HDMI port is output only.

I'm not familiar with your DVR.

Thanks Brian for confirming the output only on the HDMI port.

The easiest way for me to find out what will happen by hooking up my Dish receiver's USB out to one of the 9500's USB ports is to plug it in ... but I'm chicken that I'll blow up my new laptop :)

Yeah the HDMI is definitely an output only but the USB will be interesting. I don't think anything will happen once you plug in your dish because I doubt that it has plug and play technology so you would have to atleast get a drive for it - if its supported - or get some kind of program that can see the dish and display the programming. I suggest trying one of the programs that are used to display programming for TV tuners. Also you can purchase a tv tuner card and just use that from your dish.

Let me know how the usb and stuff works out because I also have a dish and I'm awaiting my 9500t now. =)

I called Dish's tech support. They said the USB on back of the DVR receiver is, "Dead for future use." The rep said they had tried to hook up their laptop to the USB and nothing happened. Has to be used with the pocketDISH.
