Just got my 9500z delivered. I noticed in the upper right hand corner of the LCD is a label/sticker that says 9000z. Anyone else notice that? I must say everything else about the laptop seems pretty sharp but that sticker/label looks kinda old/peeling already. Did they use the same screen as the 9000 series?

Also, I ordered the laptop with the "high-capacity" battery. Is there any way for me to verify that I actually got a "high-capacity" battery visually versus the standard battery?

    Thanks.

The correct model is listed on the label underneath the laptop. The label on the upper right hand is the family the laptop falls under.

As for the high-capacity batter, look for the amperage values. The high-capacity amperage value should be higher than the standard battery

The DV9500 is a step above the DV9000 series, but the label is the same simply because the DV9500 series was modeled after the DV9000. I'm not sure where you would go to see the difference between the high-capacity battery or the standard, because I've never seen a standard and don't know what the different ratings of them are. I'm sure if you did a little research, or possibly call HP and ask them how you can tell the difference, you'll find your answers.

As far as the sticker peeling, is it just the dv9000 sticker, or something else on the laptop?

just the sticker/label itself. It kinda just looks like an old label for a better way to describe it. The plastic has bubbled up all over making it somewhat difficult to read. At first I thought maybe it was a protective piece of plastic, but its not.

yeah, mine had the bubbles too on the sticker
just run your finger across it and the bubbles should go away (they did for me)

I feel dumb, it was a protective plastic film. I removed it and now its not the eyesore that it was before.

Man, this thing is huge. Battery life doesn't seem so great so far.

    Nice, lol.
You should be getting at least a couple hours battery life. I owned a DV9500t with the high-capacity battery and got more than 2 hours (wasn't full load, but was using it for internet, installing software, testing apps). What is the amount of time you are getting out of the battery charge?

haven't done any formal tests. just setting things up last night like my network, installing vpn etc. While working I noticed once it got below 50% battery, it seemed to keep dropping pretty quickly.

I also burned my recovery discs. Holy crap I didn't realize that would take so long. I'm seriously thinking about doing the clean install... I'm just paranoid about losing functionality and having driver issues.

If you follow the directions for a clean install that you can find here in the HP forums you'll be fine. The only functionality you are going to lose is the slowness of bloatware and the HP diagnostic programs and crap they install.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that I will. I ordered the upgrade disc from CompUSA. Hopefully it won't take too long to get them. They sent the email with instructions for "downloading" as well. Thinking about ordering direct from M$ as well just to see if I can get it any sooner. Its too bad HP won't include an OS disc, such a pain.
