So I just purchased a dv2700se and was wondering if I could use the 12cell battery in my current dv6700 with the 2700. The 12 cell fits inside my buddy's 2700 but i didnt turn it on. I spoke with hp tech support and after i gave them the part number, he said that they were incompatibile. but after a quick search on google, i found lots of 3rd party batteries that were compatible with both 2000 and 6000 series....so what gives? has anyone tried using a dv6000 battery in a dv2000 before?

If the contacts match then it's compatible. Some laptop batteries even though it's a different series will fit in other series laptops. I went to Compusa one time and they told me the HP battery I was looking at will fit my HP model but I told him my model wasn't listed in the package. I went home and looked at my battery and sure enough the contacts was totally different. Some was in the middle and some on one side.

Did you notice that (or if) the batteries have diferents volts?
I'm asking because I have a Compaq Presario C700 with 6 cell battery and a Pavilion dv6700 CTO with a 12 cells battery and both are similar. I mean, it fits perfect if I change between the notebooks, but one is 10.8v and the other battery is 11.1v. Is it a problem?
I hope you know because I don't want to buy a new battery for my notebook...
