I am about to hand over the cold hard cash for the Envy 14. Biggest problem having the AC power adapter sticking out like a sore thumb. Any ideas? was looking at the LC 90 a right angle adapter, but no confirmation on Envy compatibility. Who's idea was it to put it on that side anyway...

I'd like to know this too, actually. It would help with wire management at my desk.

I'm also looking to pick up an angled ethernet cable for the same purpose.

The I/O balancing on the Envy 14 is not the best, I can say that much.

It may not be right angle but it probably has a less prominent "straightness" than the default HP power supply.

Targus APA69US. It's a small profile and I've seen someone use it with no problems in the Cases / Sleeves post.

Are there still no decent alternatives to the stock power adapter that sticks straight out 3 inches? It drives me crazy when using a mouse, which is all the time due to the track pad.

I think the cable is my biggest complaint with this laptop. I've been looking for an alternative for about five months now.

I wish the LC90 fit without modification. I don't feel comfortable hacking into a power connector. I'd rather not get electrocuted or start a fire.

there is a right angle adapter, you just plug the straight cable into it, I saw it a few weeks ago but forgot the website, will post back when I find it, just letting you guys know that it does exist, but its just the adapter, not the complete cable/brick

I really like it as well and it would have been exactly what I was looking for if it fit.

If you look at your factory connector, you can see that the black housing around the metal connector actually slides insides the connector opening about 1/4 inch on the laptop. The black piece on the LC90 is much bigger and will only fit after filing it down. It prevents the connector from going in far enough to make contact.

If it was designed like the picture that site uses for connector measurements, it would have been perfect. Instead, it has a bulky hexagon shape.

I am very happy to report that I have finally found a great replacement for the factory adaptor, thanks to cam121 (in this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-envy-hdx/579258-slim-power-adapters-hp-envy-17-a.html).

    This is the unit:
Amazon.com: Thermaltake Toughpower Ultra Slim 95 Watts Universal Laptop Power Adapter High-Efficiency USB Charging Port ADP95W0003 (Black): Electronics

It is portable, runs cooler than the factory brick, cable is slightly shorter than factory and much more pliable, and best of all no more annoying cable sticking straight out blocking my mouse! :)

Thanks for that link RBeeMan, I like the right angle connector, but I want a power-brick that disconnects on both sides so that it's more portable, i hate wrapping the cable when it's attached to that big ugly power-brick.
Also, has anyone tried a magnetic powercable mod? I saw it on a Thinkbook one time, but im sure it would be very hard to drill out the magnesium/aluminium cover.

Not going to happen, because the plug has 3 contacts.

Well, it's possible. But it would be very hard.

I use the CoolerMaster Universal Slim Adapter for my Envy 15. Very thin and portable, also the plug is a right angle and the cord detaches from both sides of the thin power brick. It has a velcro tie, very convenient to unplug and wrap up.

It should also work for Envy 14.

if you follow jywang's thread, it works fine. i bought two from him (pre-cut) and it fits perfectly. its easily pulled out just like the macbook's magsafe. but if you buy a new one, you have to cut it good!

The straight power cable doesnt bother me, I just place my mouse accordingly and that's it.

However, I would probably buy a L shaped connector if it existed as a standalone.
But I would NOT buy another AC adapter just to have it. I already have the 65W slim adapter along with the regular 90W brick.
