I have an AMD A10-4600M and AMD 7730M combo switchable graphics setup in my dv6z, although the drivers from HP are getting more than a little old.
I decided since there has not been anything new for it since 20th of April 2012, I though I will just go to AMD's website download and install new ones from there.
Everything installed fine, success was the words when looking at the logs. The improvement was great, FarCry 3 actually would run fast and smooth. Then BSOD, and at first I ignored that, rebooting, soon later another BSOD while just on the desktop not games running.
Not sure why it doing this, looks like everything is all ok. The only way back to stable was to do a system restore back to my old driver set. HP has not bothered to update the drivers, and will be unlikely now that Windows 8 is here, I am still on Windows 7 and intend to stay on it with this laptop.
Anyone know if it is possible to run just the AMD drivers somehow with dual graphics setups such as this?

have you tried doing a full driver uninstall with driver sweeper between installing the new drivers? I really have no other idea.
-
Have you tried latest Enduro Performance driver?

I had the same problem back in october when I got my dv6z. Almost returned it. After a lot of work I found that I could run 12.10 (now on 12.11) by doing a good driver uninstall and then once getting the new drivers installed staying away from messing with application profiles. I haven't had any problems since. Seems to me (although I cant prove it) that there's an issue with altering application profiles with this hardware setup. currently running 12.11 since release without issues.

Do you mean via application profiles setting a particular graphics adapter to either IGP or dedicated graphics?
I could not go to the latest 12.11 beta, would I need to go to 12.10 first?
Can you still overclock with the newer driver set? -
Farcry 3 is still a little unstable with Amd drivers.
I've experienced many weird things with 12.11 beta drivers so I switched back to 12.10 and its a lot better. Unfortunately farcry3 isn't optimized for 12.10 only 12.11 beta. So we are stick until Amd comes out with 13.1
Amd has even acknowledged there are still problems with GCN
Have u experienced this with other games? -
anybody install the new bios update yet?
im currently on F13 i think and new one is F21
wonder what it changes/fixes.... -
Still working on the windows 7 drivers, or just about to get around to them again. First I partitioned off half of the window 7 c drive. Then installed windows 8, for dual boot, after removing the system 100mb, I repair is needed with a windows 7 install disc to get windows 7 bootable again.
Ok now running windows 8 dual boot, downloaded the latest amd betas and cap2 drivers. These work very nicely. The switchable graphics panel actually displays what you has assigned to what in the past.
Grabbed all the drivers from the 72xx models for everything else, did not go near the hp display drivers. From what I see in the hp display driver package it does not install for the hardware ID for the 7730M anyway, and checking on hp website I don't think there is any option to have the 7730M anymore, only the 7670M is available.
Will update on the windows 7 front shortly. For now a clean windows 8 install with amd drivers straight from amd works a treat.
One bad thing, can not overclock the graphics for the 7730M anymore, this does not work. So far have tried msi afterburner and shappire trixx both don't allow the sliders to move -

Try 13.1
A10-4600M and 7730M driver package. Is it possible to update?
