I have been starting to notice these last couple weeks how much I had to wiggle the tip of the A/C adapter more and more just to get the Blue charging light on. I'm clue less why it's doing that, the Tip is pretty warm/hot now compared to the 1st month of usage.. and whenever it slightly moves where the insertion hole is at, the blue light goes off and I have to move it up and down to get it going again. Any recommendations what I should do to fix this and maybe prevent it from happening again?

I also use surge protector now, than when I did when I had my old Compaq (which also had the same AC adapter problem)

thats a loose connection inside the laptop, you should probably get it repaired if it is too much of a problem

If you feel that you are always stuck with problems like this, I would evaluate how your are treating the system and under what situations. Since you are seeing this in multiple places, I suspect you are doing something to cause these issues.

Do you have the cable dangling down at a direct 90 degree towards the floor, causing the power socket to take the weight of the wire? Do you move the system around a lot when it's plugged in? Are you generally rough with the system? How often do you plug/unplug it? Do you pull the power cord out by pulling on the wire instead of firmly holding the plug?

my old zt3000 has a bum power jack as well. Seems like poorly designed power jacks are somewhat of an HP trademark, as my fathers 5 year old Toshiba laptop has no such issues (and he's been using it almost daily for those 5 years).

Ya! I have the cable dangling down towards the floor, thats cuz Im on a chair without a table or nothing but the charger is on the ground. and yea I do kinda move around alot with it plugged in (like I'll pick it up to adjust n stuff, tho what does this mean? doesnt look good

also, my routine was to unplug when it got fully charged, then plug it again when it reached 20% or so. but ive been trying2 b careful with this laptop, just didnt know nothing about this A/c plugin issue

Dangling cable and moving around adds extra strain on the connection. You might not think the weight of the wire is really important, but over time it can cause problems. I think HP should have made a plug that could handle this better, so it's still their problem, but it's good practice to not do that.

Also, a lithium battery doesn't get memory effects, and it's actually better to keep them charged all the time. I think there's a battery FAQ around the forum somewhere. Otherwise, it's better to keep it plugged in all the time if your near the outlet, but don't knock yourself out if you're traveling, moving around the house, etc...

Same issues i get for my headphones and pretty much any wired connection.. too much strain causes it to only work when you wiggle it in right till it stops working

I have a hp quickdock . my ac charger hasnt moved or ever been directly plugged in since i got it. Everything just plugs into the quickdock and only 1 cable to the lappy

thanks for the info on that, wish there was a better handling with their power jacks, like a usb one seems problem less.

so with my problem , would getting a new ac adapter work better than the one I have now - It's now being difficult, I gotta push or put pressure inwards to get the blue light on
