I have an AC Adapter from another brand of laptop wonder if it will work on my laptop HP DV9207US.
It's Output on the other ac power pak is 18.5 volts at 4.9 amps 90 watts max
The one that came with my DV9207US is
19 volts at 4.74 amps 90 watts max
The polarity is the same on both units.
It looks like the specs are close enough. If I plug it in and there is no smoke
I guess it works.

Be careful when using different adapters. A slight change in specifications from the original could result in problems. Check and see what other adpaters are compatible with your notebook, using part numbers, and contact HP, as they will have much better information.

Okay Thanks for the caution,Zero, I am still checking it out. I have measured the volts out with a multimeter and they are the same.

If the volts are the same, then make sure you have a look at the current aswell. The current is also quite important, because if its not right, the notebook may not have enough overall power, and if its too high, then it could be bad for its health. But, if those two seem around the same as the original adapter, then its likely safe to proceed.

Also make sure the Polarity is the same. Some adapters run negative to positive and some are positive to negative. You can easily fry your laptop if the polarity is not the same. I've seen adapters of the same voltage and amperage but the polarity was not the same.
AC Adapter from another laptop work on HP??
