    Hi all,

Just stubbled on this while trying to find solution for my warm-running DV6-1264 (see sig).

    http://sites.amd.com/us/vision/tips-tools/cool-apps/Pages/fusion-utility-mobility.aspx

It's a nice utility. And it works! At least, it dropped my idle temp from 47 degrees to 41-42 degrees!!! (Fusion app + HP power saving mode)

It packs quite a few different power saving modes and some "more performance" modes also.

    Check this out!
This app shuts down all kinds of little application, background services and other things that you don't need for a particular task.
You can also customize profiles and run FUSION MOBILITY at startup!!!

Well done AMD, seems like this app will help us keeping our AMD/ATI notebooks a little cooler. Of course, it's sad that it takes a software application to fully optimize our AMD platform, but it's free download....

Right now ,at idle, with HP RECOMMENDED power setting AND Fusion Mobility set to BALANCED I got a idle temp of 42 Degrees celsius.

This AMD program is rather interesting. Under some of these power plans alot of windows services get shut down (AMD warns you when you first run the program that this program may cause security compromises, system instability etc). I will have to play with this software to see if it can work for me.

Now down to 39Degrees celsius (idle still), wireless off and bluethooth off.
    Sounds promising...
In reference with security compromises, well, it doesn't shut down your software firewall or anti-virus...

Some profiles will shut-down your internet connection, either wired or wireless, so it's better to make yourself one or a few custom profiles that take your personal needs into consideration.

    Blackshard83,

I can't wait to see what kind of results you get using both your undervolting application/knowledge AND Fusion-Mobility. :D

I don't like this software it is like breaking your leg so you wouldn't hurt as you will not be able to run.
It steps down the frequency to P-State 2 and impacts performance so badly it will not run properly.

I tried yesterday. I was happy because it kills many useless services windows has, but using maximum battery (on line) got the same idle temp of 49° I usually get with balanced power profile :( BTW, Linux is able to bring idle temps to 45°C in the same condition.
I have to test it better, even because it shuts down my firewall in windows 7, and it is not the greatest thing. However, it is a great piece of code indeed, finally someone just found that our operating systems are fully loaded of useless crap in the form of services and other dummy processes that just drain the battery.

This is true...When I tested it last night not only did it disable the windows firewall but it also disabled my anti-virus (Avast!) with stunning ease. Now what I don't get is that under the web browsing profile the firewall and anti-virus are also disabled which IMO is not what you want while surfing the web  !

However as you pointed out this program does highlight alot of the unneeded services that are usually left running when you don't really need them to be.

Background services do not consume much Processing Power.
IMO this does very little actually.
It still doesn't solve the root of the problem.

    Of course it doesn't.
It's not helping heat transfer or turn a 65nm K8L core into a 45nm "caspian" CPU.
But it has at least a few functions that I'll use myself.
At least, it's more complete than the : hp recommended/performance/power svaing modes.
