Sorry ignore the following I failed to realise the laptop doesn't use S1 socket

I am putting it on this thread because of the HP AMD Processor owners.
I like to say something potentially interesting to ZM/RM Processor owners.
First remember QL?
It is actually AM2 socket compatible.
Meaning it is possible to load Desktop AM2 Processor onto your laptops someone has done it.
Except for the increase TDP it is working.
To add on AMD has made AM2+ and AM3 Processor backward compatible with AM Socket meaning it maybe possible to load Phenom on your laptops lest the TDP anyone interested or willing to try?
It will be great to get 4 cores running on laptops while Intel counter parts have to buy a new Quad Core laptop

Socket AM3 breaks compatibility with AM2/AM2+ processors due to a subtle change in key placement. The AM3 socket has 941 pin contacts[1] while current AM3 processors have only 938 pins. Tom's Hardware removed the two obstructing key pins from an AM2+ Phenom in order to fit it into an AM3 socket. The processor did not work in the AM3 socket, but still worked in an AM2+ socket, suggesting that compatibility issues run deeper than merely the key pins.[4]

However, AM3 processors are backwards-compatible with Socket AM2+, contingent upon a BIOS update for the motherboard. Manufacturers including Asus,[5] Gigabyte,[6] and others have labeled existing AM2/AM2+ boards as being "AM3 Ready" or similar, indicating that BIOS support is provided for the specified boards. This allows existing AM2/AM2+ systems to upgrade the CPU without having to upgrade any other components.

AMD confirmed that AM2 processors will work on AM2+ motherboards and AM2+ processors will work on AM2 motherboards. However, the operation of AM2+ processors on AM2 motherboards will be limited to the specifications of Socket AM2 (1 GHz HyperTransport 2.0, and one power plane for both cores and the IMC). AM2 processors do not benefit from the faster HyperTransport 3.0 and separate power planes on AM2+ motherboards.

So in theory:
New Processors work on old socket (reverse do not work) and old socket is compatible with S1 therefore New Processor is compatible in S1.
I check the TDP and voltage there are 45watts ones and voltage is the about the same around 1.1-1.2V

Socket AM2/AM2+/AM3 cpu wont fit into a Socket S1 and vice versa. Socket S1 is physically smaller and has only 638 pins compared to the 940/941 in the AM/AM2+/AM3. The QL/ZM and RM series are all socket S1(specifically S1g2) processors. So, a Phenom wont work in a Socket S1 laptop and socket S1 turions wont work in a AM2/AM2+/AM3 socket.

I realised the other laptop that is upgradable wasn't socket S1G2.
My bad.
