Historically, ATI / AMD has always been tight about letting mobility drivers out there. Nvidia just update theirs and makes them available every release. To this day, my son's GTS8600 in his Pavillion is totally up to date. The only issue with our Envy's at some point is when we decide to forsake switchable graphics and disable the Intel graphics chip and stick strictly with the AMD. Once you do that...you will be able to update drivers every month

Is there a correct way to install 11.4?

When I run the update it says i'm still running Catalyst version is 10.7 and my driver version is 8.771.1.0.

Since I purchased the laptop from Australia, the only updates that work are from the HP Australia website, but there hasn't been any updates in ages...(lazy bums)

The updates from the AMD website never seem to work for me. Any suggestions? :(

Turns out WMP wasn't showing any videos with 11.4. After going through uninstall/re-install helz, I got it back to 11.2.

But man oh man if it screws up everything again I'm going to shoot you. :p

    Update:

    It worked. Nice. ;)

Go into Device Manager...choose Display Adapters. Double click on the 6850...go to the Driver tab. Should be 8.841 or the like. Date will be April 2011

Would installing this over the current driver somehow disable the switchable graphics option?

In my case, everything installs fine, except the CCC. So I do a custom and install everything BUT Catalyst Control Center. Drivers work fine, even with an older CCC from HP default drivers

I have not updated my ATI drivers at all yet... So should I first update them to 11.3 then 11.4 or does it not matter? Thanks in advance and sorry for all the questions.

Hm even when I click custom it says that the lastest ATI driver is already installed which is 8.771.1.0.. I'm using an Envy 14 so is the lastest driver for the 5650?? Or am I missing something

I had been running the stock drivers until three days ago when I decided to update them.

I attempted to go from 10.6 to 11.5 and it installed the latest CCC but didn't update my drivers either like a few people have said. When I tried to install 11.5 again, it broke my switchable graphics.

I restored to an earlier point, uninstalled the ATI drivers, ran a variety of driver and registry cleaners, uninstalled the Intel drivers and rebooted. I then installed the current switchable graphics off HP.com and successfully installed 11.5a over it.

Has anyone else had success with 11.5a?

11.5 refuses to install for me since it says that my hardware is incompatible with it hence why I installed 11.4.

Seriously, I have never been so confused and frustrated about installing a set of drivers before.

What's your CCC version? I tried updating to 11.4 but mine seems to be the same:
    Driver Packaging Version 8.771.1-100909a-105617C-HP
    Catalyst™ Control Center Version 2010.0909.1412.23625

I'm in the same boat - I haven't been able to get the driver to take - I'm still on 8.821-etc. and Catalyst Version 11.2 after several attempts to update.

I did download from ATI for 11.5, only updated software, not drivers. Installed the 11.4 drivers from here and now I have 11.4 drivers.

I don't think that that's your driver version.
Do this: Windows button + R, type "dxdiag", go to display, then check driver version on the right hand side.

I'm actually on 11.3 CCC with the 11.4 drivers now. Found the 11.5 version of CCC was crashing sometimes.

I uninstalled everything, re-installed the original HP drivers from the help site and then upgraded to 11.4 drivers and then 11.3 CCC. I'm still playing around with the installs for the best configuration but I had no joy until I uninstalled, rebooted and re-installed the original HP drivers - then updated.

I'm the German envy with Radiance - HP Envy 14-1010eg
