I Use this AMD free utility to get live temps on my quad core and get live fsb on(933Mhz-FSB)- 1866Mhz(1.35V) memory--bus fluctuates up to last reading 985.15MHz (almost 1000Mhz) Amd 1866Mhz Integrated Memory controller in the APU steps up the memory line when a load is going thru and then steps it down when the load is passed,, AMD patented mechanism ,This is more efficient than running memory bus at highest speed all the time-saving energy and keeping heat down,,no point in having memory bus maximum when the computer is idle. Overdrive shows Graphic info as well-Bus Line speed of the AMD Graphics Unit is 2500Mhz. Look further and you'll see this automatic over/underclocking is within JEDEC timing standards for DDR3L-Sodimm.... ,,Temperature of GPU is like the CPUS 21 C-35C in Typical computer use, I do use a small $6 Frisby notebook cooler with dual small fans, usb 2.0 powered.Credit where credit is due....

3rd party ware is inaccurate in temperatures and bus lines...



Observe and don't change anything unless your an expert with AMD Overdrive Utility.

With 14.1 beta, the switch graphic for amd mobility work?

 

I dont have an mxm slot with a dedicated graphics as far as I know yes,,the new driver is called Mantle and competes with Microsoft DirectX, AMD will firm up the Beta-Release of the New Mantle Driver and make it non Beta,,The CPU-GPU-Architectures it works with is listed is release notes.

Catalyst 14.1 are supposed to add Frame Pacing capability for Dual Graphics.

I tested it in my a10-4600m + 7670m setup, it seems to be working (option is enabled in CCC Profiles) , however, performance is about the same as before when using dual graphics mode, with visible stutter.

Can someone test it just to know if everyone's having same results? Tested With Batman Arkham City in DX11 mode (Frame Pacing not enabled for dx9, so you have to use that mode to test). Fraps measure 40-45 fps but if feels like <20 to me.

 

Catalyst 14.1 is a beta,, AMD has not issued whql of this display driver , hopefully soon and with all the fixes.

I would say for user of AMD GPU laptop unless your testing the newest GPU beta to not us it. I tried in the past with release 13.12 AMD for my NV52 and Dell Desktop and had endless reboots and blurred graphics and worse on my NV52 constant reboots until I reverted back to 12.10 release and my blurry screens and endless reboots where no were to be found. I think since 12.10 release AMD has gone down hill with their software stability as compared to Nvidia for my Desktop and laptop with the latest release updates I had stable and clear graphics and no endless reboots. So if AMD doesn't get it's act together they are going to loose more market shares to Nvidia not because of the GPU lines but because of lack of software driver stability to just be able to run and use the UI that can make or break.

Friends, in the latest releases [14.whatever], did any of you LOSE the Overdrive tab in your CCC?

Secondly: any of you that has a A-series-based notebook: do you have, or did you ever have, the Overdrive function available in CCC? Mine does not have but I've been unable to determine if this is a new exclusion for notebooks that use the AMD APU & reference spec. This is a M6 notebook. I also have a Sammy notebook with A8 APU [non-dedicated GPU... no graphics 'card'] and is also using 14.1xxx drivers, and again, no Overdrive function is available in CCC. I really need to create Presets that have raised idle clock targets....

 

Overdrive available in CCC- No, its a separate program.

I noticed that the downloadable separate AMD OD package will load/run fine on the notebook.
WHY the diff? I have the same driver iteration on my desktop [hp] which has a AMD/MSI card, and the CCC that loads up has the overdrive function builtin. the downloadable yarnball is the same but, on the fly, it obviously detects the platform and makes the OD section invisible [via permissions somehow] on their OWN reference-spec platform for notebooks! crazy.

so, it is not a function of catalyst 14.7 or other iterative, its a "denial of access" based on the hardware detected

 

My overdrive is not in AMD CCC a search of it show "0" results and no AMD Overdrive Tab , I have to click the go to icon on the desktop to get it up and running and go thru the usual AMD disclaimers as too the difference between mobility radon and desktop radon, I don't have a desktop to compare.

I'm trying hard to understand what you're describing... What is it you're "clicking"... I don't know what the "go-to-icon-on-the-desktop" is. I assume you mean a shortcut, but to what program? What "AMD Disclaimers", and once you do that, what then do you get to?

I"m "all ears" !

 

AMD Overdirve is a separate program-all short cuts on desktops-are go to subroutines-coded to start the .exe file-get the program running to use,, I downloaded AMD Overdrive and installed it as a separate program-its not tethered or nested in CCC , it does not appear in CCC to access Overdrive with its functionality on ram ,graphics, and processors-ect, AMD Overdrive posts a screen with disclaimers. If you have overdrive, then you'll see you can change settings in ram timings-ect that most have never seen, ect,, many have changed settings without knowing what they are tweaking or not knowing enough and has caused crashes and worst so the disclaimer is there to protect AMD from someone damaging there pc by using there advanced program. Understand Now ?

I use this Official AMD program because there are lots of programs out there that claim they know the bus lines, timings,temperatures ect about AMD chips this is so far from reality its comical, when you view AMD Overdrive so as to speak.

i would still like to understand how/why the function is blocked on laptops conforming to the AMD reference spec! it just seems backward to me - on their own spec they're blocking, but on non-AMD spec systems its there.

 

AMD Overdrive is an overclocking utility as to why it does not show up in CCC only AMD knows for sure, I use it to check out features of AMD products in my Notebook.

I have two APU-based notebooks running W10 build 10166. what I'm showing here is not peculiar to windows 10 - results are similar on 8.1 and 7. The point is, for the zacate/hudson G4-1117 [a4-3800] and thinkpad x120e, using AMD SATA drivers is 'death' to performance. use the ancient Microsoft Standard SATA. if anyone knows a better, let me know
First two benchmarks are different runs of AS-SSD using the generic Microsoft driver
The others are iterations of AMD-supplied SATA drivers
All the benchmarks were done on the HP G4-1117dx [a good machine it was, even against moderns]

There is a new AMD Sata Controller driver, 4/15/2015. ver 1.3.1.277 , mine improved much by this driver, search the web, find, and install.

RIP AMD Radeon Catalyst Drivers - Hello AMD Radeon Software Crimson edition

AMD is making a change in their driver naming and branding. As you probably can remember, a few weeks ago AMD announced the Radeon Technologies Group, led by graphics industry veteran and architect, Raja Koduri.

In the line of changes is a newly ling of driver software that is to be released in the near future. This Radeon Technologies Group is tasked with propeling the industry forward by driving performance/W with new GPUs, creating innovative new technologies, and making sure the software that supports GPUs is top notch. AMD therefore is announcing that the first output from the Radeon Technologies Group is a re-imagined Software strategy. As such AMD is putting good focus on software and states It’s more than just a driver. It’s a whole range of software.

The "Radeon Software" will get the Subtitle "Crimson Edition" and hold all upcoming 2015 and 2016 drivers. The bigger change is the vertical integration of game installed game presets which AMD had been doing with Raptr. Per game you can pick a profile with accompanying graphics settings. The bigger chunk of overall settings all have been available in the Catalyst Control Center, just with that different jacket. AMD claims that this software suite will load up 10x faster opposed to the old Catalyst drivers. The new drive suite will be released 'before the end of this year'.

AMD on the topic:

Now we have user interfaces, libraries, tools, applications, packaged as what we call drivers. This great set of software has evolved into a mini graphics Operating System. With the formation of Radeon Technologies Group, we have decided to call this mini graphics Operating System “Radeon Software”.

This means we will be retiring AMD Catalyst. This marks the end of an era, and the beginning of a new age of immersive computing where we will be surrounded by billions of brilliant pixels that enhance our daily lives in ways we have yet to fully comprehend. The new era starts on November 2nd when we will introduce Radeon Software Crimson Edition.

The change is all-encompassing. We’ve re-designed and re-architected what was previously known as AMD Catalyst Control Center (CCC), and named it Radeon/FirePro Settings. With the new design, we focused on experience, form and function. You’ll see how the new Radeon/FirePro Settings has a modern user interface that is simple and clean, is intuitive to use, and has asignificantly faster start up than its predecessor. It also has new features:

• Game Manager
• Video Quality presets
• Social Media integration
• Simplified EF setup
• System notifications tab

So what is announced?

• AMD Catalyst is retiring and we are introducing a completely redesigned and reimagined Radeon Software. Radeon Software represents the breadth and depth of Radeon Technologies Group's Software focus. The forthcoming update will be called Radeon Software Crimson Edition.
• We're introducing a completely new and streamlined user interface called Radeon Settings.
• Radeon Software Crimson Edition will be available for everyone to download before the end of the year, and we’ll be sharing more details in the coming weeks.

Latest AMD CCC graphics driver 15.20.1062, notebook support or laptop support--AMD mobility drivers has been deleted/removed and the driver install utility is now called Radeon Crimson , its best to download the driver thru the CCC utility which still exists or AMD Gaming involved application , the chipset drivers failed to install due to old versions in the chipset software, the graphics driver was updated.

Sadly, quite a number of AMD graphics cards have reached end of life today. In other words, the manufacturer will no longer support them. To make the situation particularly harsh, however, the company is abruptly stopping driver development without warning. If you own one of these cards, you will never get a new driver again after today.
