Ok, I'm new to this forum and before you flag me or tell me to do a search first, I've already done my homework and tried to find a solution to my problem throughout the web. There is a similar thread to this one here:

I'm fully aware of it. My problem is that my screen tearing issue still hasn't been resolved.
Dear troubleshooters,
I have a Hp dv6-6172tx. i72670QM Radeon 6770M 2GB.
I'm having screen tearing issues playing most of the current games. I tried playing with triple buffering and V-sync on but still had serious game tearing issues. I tried updating the BIOS to F1B and catalyst drivers but unfortunately the the version only said 11.10 even after I installed the 11.12 version. Am I doing something wrong here? HP doesn't seem to let me install the newest drivers even after I uninstalled catalyst.
Besides updating my catalyst drivers and BIOS to the latest, is there another more obvious solution that I'm missing? Screen tearing issues especially noticeable in playing games like Skyrim.
Mad props for those who offer a comprehensive solution. (more than one)
Thanks in advance
