also, which is the better/FASTER processor? for dv8000?
AMD Turion(TM) 64 ML-44 (2.4GHz/1MB L2 Cache) OR Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo processor T2600 (2.16 GHz) -
i bought a dv8000t in june, but returned it, so cant answer your first question. As for your second one, the core duo is the better cpu.

I recently purchased this laptop August 7th, so far no keyboard problems. Maybe it is because I don't have a fast typing speed, I just got lucky, or the problem will occur at a later date. My system is currently running XP media center, Vista beta 2 and Ubtuntu linux without major problems.
As for the Turon vs Duo core, the threads on this site and tomhardware state the duo core is much better. Also with bios update this laptop can be upgraded (while voiding your warrenty) to Core 2 processors -
bought macbook pro instead, but returned that as well. returned dv8000 because of its size.

did u have any keyboard problems? and where sdid u buy the dv8000 from and what processor did u have with it?
-
bought it from costco. 2.0 core duo. cant really tell if i had the keyboard problem because i used an external keyboard, but i tried one at compusa and it seemed fine.

One other thing as guhjeeh said this thing is huge and heavy around 10 lb with laptop, backpack and power block. This is a DTR not something you will want to carry for a long time. I will be using this in one or two classes a week in one building so portability wasn't a problem with me. I rolled the dice and got lucky so far. Keyboard problem may still crop up. Also finding a backpack that truely fits will be costly and time consuming. I have found out that the T2250 is a crippled chip 533 bus speed vs 667. I had planned on replacing he chip later with core2 Merom

I bought my dv8000t in July and had the keyboard problems. Core Duo is better.
I didn't find the laptop to be hard to carry around at all, and I'm pretty small. The HP backpack that I got was relatively cheap, and fit everything great.
ANYone bought the HP dv8000t recently? in Aug?
