I only have 6% reflected in my cart. I have read that other people on here have received a 10% student discount since their college was registered with HP. If this is true, can I lie about what college I am going to and get 10% off or do they actually check with your college? I would love to get 10% off instead of 6%. Does anyone have any info on this?

I got 6% student discount on my laptop purchase a month ago too. Before I bought it, I had read in some topics that some were talking about 10% discount. I made a little research and could not find out how to get that much of student discount.
Then I made an assumption that they were talking about the overall savings(including mail in rebates). Combination of 6% student discount and $100 mail in rebate at the time were reflecting 11% savings on my purchase. That is just my assumption. I still don't know if there is a chance of saving 10% just by student discount when mail in rebate is excluded!

not really sure, its usually whichever ones have HP as their main computer supplier. I know mine has Dells, thus I could get like 15% off of a dell, but I didn't want one and this didn't help with my HP.
