I just got my r3000z today and wondered if the HP speakers are really better. I went to CC and they had them sitting side by side but there was so much noise I couldn't tell. Also, is the volume any louder on HP?
I do know I that 1680x1050 is just too small for these old eyes(thought I did my homework but I guess not).
I think I really want a bright view. I also want a 9600x128 ATI. I think I am going to return this notebook and get an intel(I thought I'd never, ever do that). The bright view is an improvement. The 9600x128 is an big improvement. I guess I will make up my mind on HP or Compaq after I hear from those of you who know. Please post if you know of any advantage one has over the other.
On another note, are all notebooks so bios unfriendly? There is nothing you can tweak, and I like tweaking. This is a VERY BIG CHANGE FOR AN OVERCLOCKER. I won't know what to do with it.JUST USE IT???

Try increasing font size on the laptop, should make it more readable.
and yes, all of the BIOSes from the big companies are pathetic. -
yeah, the compaqs use JBL speakers while the HP's use Harmon Kardon. The HP's speakers are far superior. HP pretty much is the higher end product in the HP/Compaq corp. You get what you pay for. The brightview is much better. I saw it at Best Buy and I loved it. I will make a purchase in mid-August so I will wait for the best deal and lowest prices till then. I only wish that the AMD64 would be in a ZD7000!

If you want to overclock, look up my thread on undervolting in this forum. Also, switch to Large or Very Large fonts in your Display Properties | Appearance tab.
The desktop trick for overclocking nVidia graphics cards works on this notebook as well, but it won't help much. It beats integrated video, that's about all I can say for the 440 Go.
ARE HP SPEAKERS REALLY BETTER THEN COMPAQ?
