Hi to all. I hope i get help with this. :)

Whenever i try to update the Catalyst Control Center to 10.10, the Catalyst Install Manager keeps crashing after I choose the language and click install.

I don't know if it is to do with any programs but this does seem quite strange to me.

Does anyone know how I can stop the ATI Catalyst Install Manager from crashing?

    Thanks.

    Matt

For specs: click on user name>View Public Profile

For AMD Catalyst Install Manager: I have downloaded it from AMD's website.

    - File name: '10-10_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_enu.exe'

Also, I have uninstalled AMD Catalyst Install manager from control panel now but whenever i try to install the new CCC (catalyst Control Panel), it STILL uses the one that crashes all the time. It doesn't even ask me if i want to install the Catalyst Install Manager again since i have now uninstalled it from the control panel.

So, I am trying to upgrade to CCC 10.10 (version 2010). but no matter where i download it, it still doesn't work.

So how can I fix this?

    Thank you.

    Matt :)

    {Edit: This also means that i can't install or remove new ATI/AMD programs as it needs the catalyst install manager to install new drivers/programs.}

Sry I have to ask.... I wanted to check which AMD driver works best for you.

Use this post, I just read your edit.

Skip the uninstaller part if it not in the add remove program

You can use any AMD Radeon of your choice, that I'm assuming that your model is not a switchable graphic type.

Right. I have used Driver Sweeper and It is now just coming up with a bigger screen.

NOTE: THE CATALYST INSTALL MANAGER KEEPS COMING UP WITH CATALYST(tm) INSTALL MANAGER HAS STOPPED WORKING.

So now i am stuck with this really annoying screen.

I am now quite furstrated that this is not working.

please tell me how i can get this working again. It is quite a new notebook. I only got it in October.

    Thank you. :)

Update: i have used system restore to restore to my normal screen.

    And also removed driver sweeper.

So here's the steps I use before the ATI catalyst Install Manager crashes:

    e.g.

    1. I downloaded the 10-10_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_enu.exe file from amd's website.

    2. I then double click on the fine downloaded and the ATI Catalyst Install Manager appears.

    3. I select the Language

    4. I then click next.

    5. I then click on install.

    6. A gray box appears

    7. It then says 'CATALYST(tm) Install Manager has stopped working'

Now, i THINK i know the problem but im not sure if it is. But i think it could be to do with Microsoft's Visual Basic C++/C# program. So if it is that program then is it safe to uninstall it?

    Thanks.

    Update 2:

I have tried to use the express uninstall from add/remove programs but it just skips uninstalling the software and just skips to asking 'would you like to remove ATI Catalyst Install Manager?', even though it skips the removal of the ATI Software.

I think i might as well just give up on this because i don't know why its doing this to me. I have done NOTHING to make this happen.   :mad2:

So what i want to know is:

    1. Is there any programs needed for ATI Catalyst Install Manager to run

    2. If not, what other way can i uninstall it.

    3. How can i Reinstall ATI Catalyst Install Manager

Also, I have tried to repair the Install Manager using the ATI Install Manager Repairer but no difference!!!

    So what should i do?

    Thank you very much. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Hmm let try this, I'm going to give a guess here
    Run an elevated command prompt.

    cd \ATI\Support\10-10_mobility_vista_win7_32-64_ccc\Bin64

    ATISetup.exe -Uninstall -output screen

If I remember correctly, amd radeon installer requires at least dot net framework 2.0, but you are using windows 7 which by default have net framework 3.5, which is enough.

There is another really final resort but its quite tedious and dangerous.

Its ok now, i have just reinstalled my computer to its origional factory state.

And yes i know it is a big step to take but it helped and i now have the latest catalyst control center, hydravision, and avivo video converter.

And also, I have found in the Add/Remove list in the control panel that i have .NET Framework 4 Client Profile. So i hope that the Catalyst Control Centre and Install Manager works with it this time. xD

But thanks for your help anyway. ;)
