There are two models of 17in notebook,
one with x1600, the other with Nvidida card.
    What's the differencs between them?

    Finally, money is coming(around$3,500),
I could buy a new computer next week.

Most of my works are compuations.

    Welcome Any sugestions or comments.

    Thanks a lot.

yea and you will get better battery life with the x1600. I believe the 1500M is based on the fx 7900gs.

Quadro FX 1500M is optimized for professional 3D applications (AutoCad, 3D Studio Max etc.)

    X1600 is regular gaming card.

Both cards are very good for gaming but Quadro may have problems (rarely) with some games because it's a workstation card and use different drivers.

Actually, Quadro FX 1500M is based on GeForce 7900 and it's so much faster then X1600

I am assuming you are looking at the nx9420 and the nw9440. Don't make your decision purely on the video card. If most of your work is computation then I believe it would mainly be a processor's task. As well the nw9440 is available with WUXGA native resolution rather than the WSXGA offered by the nx9420. All to their own and good luck with purchasing your new notebook!

    Thank all for your help.
I will buy ATI model(nx9420 with T7400 cpu).
However, the hp has no the model(nx9420 T7400 cpu 2.16gz) with brightview lcd. I guess I have to buy one without brightview lcd. That's the only one available model with T7400(2.16Gz) core 2 cpu.

Actually the Quadro FX is optimized for 3D applications and will work fine for gaming. Unlike the NVS series the FX is much more powerful for 3D and i believe the FX 1500M performs about like a 7800 GTX or at least they compared to one another in 3DMark06 results. The Quadro NVS is weaker and optimized mostly for 2D applications.

Well I believe that the FX1500M i modelled after the 7900GS but the 7900GS and teh 7800GTX probably perform about the same but as I recall, the 7900GS runs more efficiently and cool since it is a newer design...
