I'm intended to purchase presario r4000, but suddenly i've got a doubt about the xpress 200M chipset? It's provided that this chipset got dedicated memory up to 128 MB. But i'm affraid that it is just a simple integrated video card, which takes memory from ram. So there's my question - is this chipset takes this 128mb memory from ram, or it has it's own memory?

It is both. It has some dedicated memory and takes some from the system memory. If you really want to game, the v4000t with the x700 is a better option.

I have an HP zv6000 which is the twin of the R4000. There are two options for the xpress 200M. There is a 32mb that is expandable to 128mb and a 128mb that is expandable to 256mb. Most people get the 128mb and that is what I have as well. The 128mb is dedicated memory and to get up to 256mb you have to share memory with the computer. This card is unique in this way as compared to other chipsets. However, it is still an integrated card. It is probably the best integrated card out at this point but it still will be limited in the games it can play. I have been able to play most games that I have which are mostly a year or more older. You will be able to play the less intensive graphics games that are newer but probably will not be able to play the more graphics intensive games. I really like my zv6000 but in retrospect I kind of wish I had gotten the HP DV4000 (I think it is the V4000 in the Compaq) and it has an option of an ATI x700 graphics card. You might want to look at that and see if you can get one of those in your budget. Most people have been able to get one of those for around $1200-$1300 and it has had really good reviews. Only problem I don't like about it is that it has an Intel processor rather than an AMD processor.

Yeah, I was just trying to play Call of Duty 2 demo, and even at all the lowest settings, it is still choppy. Most of the other games play fine, such as Xmen and need for speed

Sad to say, if you want an AMD64 notebook with a decent GPU you have to look outside of HP. Acer and MSI have very good AMD Turion models with X700 GPUs. I've been very happy with my zv5000z (except for the antique GPU) but MSI is looking really good right now.

MSI 1029 is a good option. It has a MT CPU and X700 card, it is arround US$1,200.

It is sad i only have a budget of 1000, so bye bye to MSI, I think I will go with V2000Z since I am not heavy gamer. I only plan to play Need for speed and FIFA soccer on it.

    Wish everybody luck.

Thanks for advices, but right now i'm thinking about compaq presario v4000t:

    Intel(R) Pentium(R) M Processor 740 (1.73 GHz)
    15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800)
    128MB ATI MOBILITY(TM) RADEON(R) X700
    1.0GB DDR2 SDRAM (2x512MB)
80 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
    DVD+/-RW/R & CD-RW Combo w/Double Layer Support
    Integrated 56K Modem + 10/100 Ethernet LAN
    12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

What is your opinion about such system?? Very similar HP pavilion dv4000.

Yes, this is the same as the HP DV4000, just looks different on the exterior. Looks like a good system. Enjoy!
