Tomorrow I plan on ordering my HP Envy 14 Beats Edition after spending the last few months deciding what laptop I want for the next couple of years for school. The main draw for me to this laptop are the looks and solid build quality. Tomorrow is pretty much the deadline given the $300 discount coupon available right now.

I have also spent a good amount of time reading about the radiance display in hopes that it would come back. I'd really prefer a 1600x900 display. Assuming that they won't magically have this available when I order tomorrow, does anyone know if at a later date (assuming the display becomes available once again) I will be able to get the screen replaced somewhat painfully? I can't really wait any longer to order, but being able to upgrade the screen at a later date would be great news.

Secondly, I was just curious what the best processor is for a good amount of battery life yet still maintaining good speed? Just want a good balance.

    Thanks!

Go with any of the i5 processors. The difference speed wise is negligible between the various ones offered. I5 -460 is fine.

As for the display, if they ever bring radiance back, it will not be possible for HP to do it. But if YOU are handy enough, it can be done via buying the panel third party. The service manual is posted on page 1 of the owner's thread.

beats edition is way too awesome. I have owned it for a month . i5 processor is good enough, dont forget to go with ssd. This will make this laptop the best in the market now

    Hi there,

I am located in Australia and don't have the luxury of customizing my Beats 14. This aside, I am very happy with the specs!

I received mine yesterday and it will pretty much replace my girlfriend... LOL.

Besides Reil's trackpad app, can anyone make any recommendations to boost performance? Are there any drivers, etc I am unaware of?

Finally, can somebody please explain what "LED HP BrightView Infinity Display" is? Is this just a marketing ploy?

    Thanks.

consider not going with the beats edition. for some unknown reason, the beats edition is thicker (1.18" vs 1.11") and weighs 0.5 lbs more. My normal envy 14 is heavy enough, not sure if I would be happy with it being any heavier.... oh and it costs more too. So the point is only go with the beats edition is you're REALLY in love with how it looks.

Yea, Im thinking of picking up a HP envy 14" i5 around Christmas or after, problem is I can't find any in Australia because in the online shop it only offers beats edition with i7. I don't like the way the lid looks, but I'll just whack a decal on.

Alternately Im thinking about buying a beats edition i5 from America, (alot cheaper than here) if I do this where can I buy the adapter and how do I get it all going? Will warranty be an issue?

Best processor while maintaining performance is any of the i5, the i7's eat up to much for my liking. People with i5 report 4 - 6 hours depending on usage while people with i7 hit 3 hours if there lucky.

I've heard stories of people getting slapped with hundreds of dollars in customs fees for buying laptops from the US and having them shipped overseas...

I don't know if this is true or applies to Australia, but I'd at least do some research on the topic if you haven't already.

That being said, I personally wouldn't want an Envy 14 without the 1600x900 screen, I don't think. If you do get it, as others said, definitely go with the i5. You'll appreciate the extra battery life.

I can pick up a brand new one (still in packaging) that has the radiance, with 8gb of ram and 2 Dim slots if I want to upgrade. Im buying it, because the price is good and comes with everything I wanted.

Since when does the Beats Edition have a 1600x900 panel option?...
