Well the 15% coupon expires soon and i will get the specs of the 999 but with the fingerprint and microphone feature, I am just worried a better deal will come out than this 15% should i purchase one already or give it till about the end of the month. Oh yea I am not lookign forward to the video card since i am not a gamer.

I've been researching laptops for the last two weeks. The 2500t is one of the best values I've seen. They were on the ball with the Santa Rosa that's for sure - they were shipping pre-made models on day one of the release.

I think most people are waiting for the dedicated GPU to be released. Here's the thing about coupons - nobody buys a laptop without a coupon or discount. The coupon might expire but they'll have another one to follow soon. One thing I've learned about buying computer hardware - the prices don't ever go Up for the same thing.

true - but I think a better video card reduces strain on processor and memory (I may be wrong)...

    Either way congrats!!

I am trying to sell my DV6000t to get a DV6500t but no luck yet :(

If you aren't waiting for the 8400M graphics, then just buy the notebook when you need it! There will almost always be a better deal/coupon in 2 weeks, so just buy the thing when you're ready to use it.

I've been watching HP's notebook prices since last Thanksgiving, and they have only kept going down. True, some deals are better than others (the 15% off deal probably won't come around again for a little while) but eventually you'll find a better deal later on. IMHO it's best to look for a good deal when you need the product, and go for it :)

I ordered a DV6500T from Costco, even with the plain GPU. I don't want to wait any longer, plus it's going to be for my dad who doesn't game. Someone has to be an early adopter. This way I can try to put XP on it. If I screw it up, I'll send it back since I have the 1 year warranty. That's the big challenge for me, is trying to get XP on it.

Msindi, it's tuff to sell used laptops because people want fresh batteries and a new screen.

Just checked the status of my order. It's shipping from Shanghia CN (China). They missed the Fedex cutoff on May 16th, will probably get to me on Monday. At least I know everything is brand new.

I would not worry about screwing it up. If the XP install gets botched, you can always run the recovery disc to put it back the way it was. As a safeguard, though, I would back up the SWSETUP folder before getting rid of Vista. It could come in handy.

Hey weiser701 please take pics and compare when you recieve it, and tell me how the NEW Santa Rosa perform, if there is a noticeable difference.

    coupe,

i'll see what i can do. i'm just an average user so if you're average as well, then maybe my input will be more valuable to you than reading benchmark tests.
