On Costco.com, they offer a 1 yr Accidental Damage Protection and 2-3yr Extended Service plan.
HP.COM offers 3 years of Accidental Damage Protection for a much higher cost.
I'm curious why they offer different plans. Can someone that purchased it from Costco buy the more expensive (and more thorough) plan from hpshopping.com?

My home insurance covers computer accidental damage for an additional $8 with $100 deductible. Got my computer from COSTCO where they have a 90 Day return policy and instead of the regular 1 year warranty, I get 2.

I don't see any reason you couldn't buy the plan from HP. They send you a packet, and you have to go online yourself to associate the plan with a particular product, so it shouldn't matter where you bought the product. But I could be wrong.

There has been several times when I have called HP Tech support and they asked me if I would like to purchase an extended warranty. I purchased my HP laptop through Costco. So I am sure you won't have a problem purchasing an extended warranty through HP.
