Is it possible to add this feature (safely) after purchase? I'm not optimistic but I thought it would be worth asking, it's the one feature I think I would have changed when I ordered (had it for a little while, don't want to go through the return process [even if they would let me at this point] just for this).

Should be pretty easy. I bought a backlit dv3 keyboard on eBay for $25. In fact, I wasn't able to use it. (Wanted to install it in my dv5z but the mounting holes aren't in the same places.) I'll sell you mine if you want it...

Well I want to make sure I can install first off obviously…did you get a whole keyboard or just a kind of LED overlay (underlay?) that provides the lighting?
