I have been trying to figure out why Windows Media Player (Win 7) does not stay in full screen on my HDX18 if I simply adjust the volume with the touch pad volume control above the keyboard. So I have to make it full screen again. Bit annoying. I can't find any way to change it.

The OSD for the volume comes up on screen normally.

But it stays full screen when using VLC if I adjust volume.

Anyone know where the setting is if there is? Thanks :)

There is no fix. Its been a problem since I can remember with hp. Same problem on my 2008 dv6700. Only way to get around it is a third party program.

See page 1, first post in the Owner's lounge for the third party program, 3RVX. You'll love it.

There is a fix, just use the default win 7 drivers. You won't get a gui notification that you adjusted the audio (like you need it, because you get audio feedback) but it works.

At what cost? If you use the default win 7 drivers what features would you lose from hp drivers? seems like everyone would do this if that was the case.

Hmm, you could try the QuickLaunch Buttons software from one of the business notebooks (such as 8530w)... That version won't steal focus from fullscreen games, at least -- but it might also not have all the same hotkeys.

Start menu search box, type msconfig. Click startup tab. Uncheck the OSD. Go to boot tab. Check box that says "make all boot settings permanent." Hit OK.

Then use the OSD referred to in my post above.
