Hello guys
i am considering buying an hp laptop, i am either ganna buy dv6000t or dv9000t but i am undecided yet and i need some advice
i would use the laptop for
Mathematica calculations,
Powerpoint presentations,
Carrying it while travelling once every a couple of month for conferences, and May be carrying it around sometimes on campus
Browsing
Latexing
May be installing some linux distribution along with vista (since these laptops now are shipped with vista pre installed)
Musltitasking, i keep lots of windows opened at the same time, browsers, Latex editing, powerpoints
May be photo editing ( once a month or something)
i am not ganna use it for heavy gaming, or video editing or watching movies
i will chose with either 6000t or 9000t
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo T7200 (2.0GHz/4MB L2Cache)
2048MB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
which are the best offered prosessor and RAM
now
best graphic card for 6000t is 256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7400
best graphic card for 9000t is 512MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7600
and i do not know how those graphic cards could affect speed of the laptop and multitasking (like having many windows opened at the same time, or doing something which scanning HD)
would 9000t be faster because of the better graphic card? or the graphic card only matters for video editing and heavy gaming?
thnx in advance

Hey, you are buying an Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo T7200 (2.0GHz/4MB L2Cache) with 2048MB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm). That alot of speed for the things you listed here, since you will not be using for no heavy graphical use.
What mainly affects the speed of your notebook is the amount of RAM, processor speed (and for you that's more than adequate), and HD speed. And between the dv6000t and the dv9000t, they got every thing you need. You should now be looking at whether you rather a bigger screen with dual HD support, or you rather a lighter notebook. That a decision according to your personal taste.
My final answer, the dv6000t is good. -

I would say go with the dv6000t. The GPU in the 6000t is just fine. They offer the 7600 series for the dv9000t because of the bigger screen. It will be somewhat easier to carry around, because of the smaller screen. As long as you got a good and fast processor and an adequate amount of RAM (For what you are doing, I wouldn't get anything less than 2 Gigs. The 9000 series are for serious multimedia fanatics and Gamers. Actually, the 6000 series should handle all of that stuff just fine. It's just the 9000t has a bigger screen and better resolution, and thus, a better GPU to handle it adequately. Stick with the 6000t. Its a tad less heavy, more mobile, and will be just as powerful for your needs as a 9000t when configured properly.

6000t is your choice. 9000t is mainly for desktop replacement and less mobile.
Advice me please, dv6000t or dv9000t ?
