    Hey all,

Zeth here with a question. Tried using the search feature multiple times with no luck, wasn't sure whether the new Envy 15 threads would be of help with their chassis being new.

As stated in the title, I'm contemplating installing a second SSD or y old regular HDD into my Envy 14. The reason I'm doing this is I'm afraid my Intel G2 SSD at 120gb is just far too little to accommodate my capacity needs, and with Guild Wars 2 requiring at the minimum 25gb, I'm afraid I'm either going to have to reinstall old hard drive, or buy a new SSD which probably won't be cheap.

So my question: Are there any special tools for getting this done? Is there any additional info I need to keep in mind? If I want to boot into the new hard drive or stay booting into the Intel SSD, are there any special steps I need to take? I've read that to do this, I would have to replace my optical drive. I'm assuming the service manual here will do a good enough job of showing me how to remove the ODD?

Good to see that there are still people in this forum with 1st gen Envy 14's! I myself replaced my optical drive with a 500 GB hard drive and installed an SSD into the original hard drive bay. You just want to follow directions in the service manual closely. This post should help a lot: http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-envy-hdx/499592-envy-14-uk-thread-55.html#post6695204 . Just a note from my experience replacing the optical drive, be very methodical with the screws and put them back from where they came, otherwise you might run into a little trouble. This is the caddy I used and it fit perfectly eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices.

On another note: You got into the GW2 beta?!

Thanks, that's going to be really helpful.

Nope, haven't gotten the beta. I hve finals coming up, so I might be better off just getting a beta key by prepurchasing the game on April 10th.

Awesome, didn't know they were going to give beta keys for pre-purchasing the game. Good luck with finals.
