I just realized that when my dv6700t is connected to an external monitor, Aero is automatically switched off. As a matter of fact, Aero doesn't even appear as an option in the Color Scheme options. If I unplugged the dock from the laptop, Aero is enabled automatically. If I plugged the dock to the laptop Aero is switched off and unavailable again.

I installed the drivers, but that didn't do anything but I wasn't expecting any change. Any ideas on what might be the problem or how to see the settings of the external monitor?

Can you be more specific. I'm still learning this stuff. I downloaded the drivers from the HP updates app, nothing changed. Then I went to the HP website and tried to install this: Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family Video Driver - 7.14.10.1318 A,but I got a warning, apparently the driver I have installed is newer than the one I was trying to install.

I installed ObjectDock Plus, and after that I've been getting all kinds of problems with the dual monitors setup. i don't know if the problems are related or not.

from past experience it was drivers that disables aero but then again i have an Nvidia gfx card

so im guessing you have a x3100 integrated card?. Install the driver anyway even if its an older version

I dont think objectdock would influence aero or the graphic settings. Well not for me anyway... I run external aswell
