I just realized that when my dv6700t is connected to an external monitor, Aero is automatically switched off. As a matter of fact, Aero doesn't even appear as an option in the Color Scheme options. If I unplugged the dock from the laptop, Aero is enabled automatically. If I plugged the dock to the laptop Aero is switched off and unavailable again.
I installed the drivers, but that didn't do anything but I wasn't expecting any change. Any ideas on what might be the problem or how to see the settings of the external monitor?

its the drivers.. try a different set of drivers.

Can you be more specific. I'm still learning this stuff. I downloaded the drivers from the HP updates app, nothing changed. Then I went to the HP website and tried to install this: Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family Video Driver - 7.14.10.1318 A,but I got a warning, apparently the driver I have installed is newer than the one I was trying to install.
I installed ObjectDock Plus, and after that I've been getting all kinds of problems with the dual monitors setup. i don't know if the problems are related or not. -
from past experience it was drivers that disables aero but then again i have an Nvidia gfx card
so im guessing you have a x3100 integrated card?. Install the driver anyway even if its an older version
I dont think objectdock would influence aero or the graphic settings. Well not for me anyway... I run external aswell -
Thanks, I'm downloading it as I type.
