I am finally a member of the 2000t HP laptop club(is there any??).
This decision was tough to say the least. I have been on the market since June of this year.
My budget started out at $1,400 then went to $1,000 since CC and BestBuy and other retailers had such good deals.
I tried out a Toshiba 14" and the new Sony C140. But for the specs that I wanted, HP came out to be a better deal. I never liked the Toshiba style anyways.
here are my specs:
HP 2000T 14.1" Brightview screen
Intel Core 2 Duo T7200
2 Gig Ram
120 Gig Sata HD
Intel Wireless with Bluetooth
Nvidia 128 Go 7200 video card
HP imprint + webcam
8X DVD DL Writer
2 yr HP Express repair
All this for slightly under $1,500. I bought from Costco's site since price difference wasn't much, however, the warranty was waaaay cheaper. The 2 year cost me $64 or so....on HP's site it is $150. It maybe a glitch, but I bought it.
This laptop is not for gaming...mainly for work(mathematical software) and photoshop and some video editing.
What do you guys think??? I should be able to do this right???
WooooHooo!!! Delivery in a couple of weeks.
-
Congrats on your purchase! HP makes some really good notebooks. I think the dv2000 will more than suffice for your requirements. I am surprised by the delivery time. HP's delivery time is usually 1 week, in most cases.
-
Yeah..it says build date is going to be around Dec 6th and shipping after that. Perhaps they are busier due to holidays?
-
Maybe they are...but you will probably get it delivered before then.
-
Wow -- you just bought my notebook. I love it for what it's worth. Video editing and statistics/calculations programs work great, but be sure to use a program that is multi-threaded to make the best use of the dual-core processor. Otherwise, congratulations, you should love the machine.

I ordered mine this past Thursday and they gave me a build date of Dec. 5th but I got an email today saying it had been shipped out to me today...woohoo...lol...So I bet your's will ship out before Dec. 6th as well.
-
wow Jadedraverla...we have the exact specs. Now I can't wait to get my computer.
Btw, what did you pay for yours??? Mine was $1483+Tax with everythng. -
Soon im going to order dv9000t,maybe from costco, do ypu have to pay taxes,or the price after customizing is final?
thanks for help -
hahahha, hope u dont get a SEC screen. sike.

SEC Screen???? Is that good or bad???? This was a CTO through Costco. I forgot about the LCD issue...someone remind me please.
Also, through Costco, you pay taxes during check out...so after you have figured out what you want.
And yes, Costco also has the Vista upgrade thingy. -
wildviper -- I paid something like that -- around $1500 total, with APP discount. Can't remember if that was before or after MIR. Anyway, it's a lightning fast system, especially for its size. For anything other than gaming, it smokes all friends notebooks. Vista runs great, considerably faster than XP on those specs.
As for the screen issue, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Some people, especially those with screens manufactured by Samsung (SEC) have complained about dim or unclear screens. There's no way to do anything about it in advance, so you'll just have to wait and see what you get. There are also many people who have no problem with their SEC screens (especially recent ones) so unless the screen disappoints you then no big deal which manufacturer you got. -
I hoped configuration price is the final, but thanks.
SO it shows tax, when you add to cart and register=log in> -
I ordered a DV6000t on 11/24 and I got an estimated build date of 12/6. I can't wait to get my hands on it.....
After 6 months..just ordered my 2000t!!!! Finally!!
