A couple of minutes ago i put a CD into the DVD drive the icon changes from DVD so CD rom so i double click and i get a pop up saying "please enter a disc into drive 'F' " and ejects the CD. After i restart it works perfectly...I've only tried the CD twice since i bought the notebook and restarting it solved the problem both times. Why does it do this though?

Does it do it for every disc you insert?

Hi
I have the exact same problem with my hp dv2310us, I have the same message popping up when I insert a disc and double click the DVD drive icon. It happens randomly and I couldn't reproduce that problem. I tried to find a solution and googled for similar issues. It looks like there is a couple of problems and solutions but since I haven't applied any of them (I am not using this laptop right now) so I cannot recommend anything. You can try to google for" vista cd-rom problems and maybe you will find something.
As far as I recall correctly I have disabled autoplay in my laptop. Enabling autoplay can help according to that: http://www.techsupportforum.com/hardware-support/removable-media-drives/185902-solved-vista-cd-rom-trouble.html. I will check that out.
Good luck

emoui: Autoplay is already enabled on my comp
After i double click on the CD drive it says "please insert disc" and ejects!
