Does anyone else have issues with their Alps touch pad?
On my DV2700t (yes my laptop was replaced with a new one) I have an Alps touch pad and well... I wish I pulled the Synaptics pad out of my DV2000T because this thing is horrible.
No palm detection - As I typed this post, my touch pad randomly clicked the part I was hovering over two times. I set it to disable tapping while typing, delay while typing to tap is on medium (although maximum or minimum does not seem to make any difference). Thank you firefox undo!
Tapping fails randomly - I go to Control Panel > Mouse > Tapping adjust the tap speed forward and backwards a few times and it works again.
Scrolling -Its just too friggin hard to scroll
The only time I had this much trouble with a touch pad was when I bought a used laptop and it had a defective touch pad and was erratic. This one on the other hand works great, but the drivers is friggin horrible.
Are there generic touchpad drivers that support scroll?
Im currently trying to cram Synaptic drivers into the laptop, if anyone has tips feel free to toss them this way. I figure PS2 touch pads cant be too different in terms of drivers... right now its identified as Synaptic PS/2 touch pad but im not getting the scroll function. Not so cool.
YES I know use a mouse. But I have a laptop for portability. If I wanted to use a mouse ill use my desktop.
And no... I won't send it back to complain![]()

I guess thats a no
Im currently trying out a different version of the driver (I have dv2700t, got the alps for the DV2500) I figure other people weren't complaining, maybe its the new version of the driver just being bad.
EDIT:
sp36510.exe for the DV2500t alps touch pad is far superior to the version that came with the DV2700t (its a older version of the driver) so far not too much hair pulling we will see if this remains reliable after a few stanby/restarts
Alps touchpad is the evil.
