Hey guys, Im out to get a new laptop for myself and would like to know one quick question. I've done some research but I need the opinions of you guys.
I already own an HP myself: DV6500t 2.4Ghz 8400M GS.
But this new HP laptop I am gonna get comes with Intel's Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD.

My question is: Am I downgrading in comparison to the 8400M GS graphics card that I already have? If so, by how much?

If I do go with the Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD, I will get the 2.5Ghz processor compared to the 2.4Ghz I already have right now. Is that a bad bargain?

Yes, that's definitely a downgrade. Not sure by how much. If you game you'll notice. You probably won't notice the CPU speed difference.

Agreed. Definitely a downgrade in the video department. Rough guess is that 4500 is about half the prowess of an 8400GS.

That is definitely a downgrade. However, it is also an upgrade in terms of battery life and heat dissipation. The notebook has the potential to run longer and cooler.

If you do not play video games, you'll never notice the difference.

In the MOBILE GRAPHICS CARDS - BENCHMARK LIST the 8400M GS ranks 92/170 and the HD4500 ranks 102/170 which is less than a 6% difference, which you'd think really couldn't make much of a difference in performance. Only the thermal properties would change significantly, because if battery usage is directly linked to power output then they average battery would last about 3 hours and 6% of that would be around 10 minutes or so, if crunching numbers matters?

if you get the Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD you wont have to worry about the defective 8400gs dying on you after warrantys up.

Yep. The only reason I bought the 8400 was to get the hdmi.. Now they include that with the 4500. Heat/battery life and not having crappy nvidia solder that goes bad one day after the warranty is why the 4500 owns the nvidia alternative. To the original poster,, you made the right decision.
