Finally, after exchanging my laptop patiently 4 times, yesterday I received my new laptop and it came with a QDS screen. I love it. It looks very nice.
No dead pixels either or anything so far. My DVD burner is a Sony so I'm assuming that's a good thing.
I'm still playing with it so hopefully I won't find anything bad. I think this is it. This is finally the laptop I get to keep.
Wooohhhhoooooo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does the new laptop make the annoying buzzing/whining sound when on battery power?
I also had to exchange my dv2000T 2 friggin times because of terrible screens, and my 3rd one finally has a good screen (LPL)....but now I have another problem that quite a few other dv2000/6000 owners have complained about: the annoying buzzing/whining noise when the laptop is being used on battery. -
I got my Dv2000Z (LPL) a few days ago.. and umm.. i have that horrible battery noise when unplugged... what to do...? what to do?
-
Hey Superhuman, I'm happy to report that my laptop don't have that buzzing/whining noise. However, I went into my room (with no noise at all) and I put the laptop right next to my face/ear then I was able to hear a buzzing when I removed the power cord from the laptop but it's very very very very minimal. Like I said I had to go into a quite room and put the laptop in my ear to be able to hear it otherwise you wouldn't even notice it at all. I guess that buzzing it's always there but in your case, for some reason, it's loud. How loud it is?
-
It's LOUD. I can hear it over music/movies playing on the laptop. It makes the laptop unusable on battery.......which completely defeats the purpose of a laptop. I'm getting really frustrated with this crap already. All I wanted was an frggin laptop to use for school. Is that too much to ask? I've already taken my midterms and it's past the halfway mark of the semester and I still don't have a normal functioning laptop. This is ridiculous. Never buying HP again.
-
You can hear it over music? ****, that is loud. Sorry to hear that. I can feel your pain. I was like that for 3 months (4 exchanges). Hopefully this is it.
Good luck with the repair/exchange. -
Whats better LPL or QDS. i had a bad luck, last night i was virus scaning and found a **** load of viruses. that ****ing avast! **** didnt work. now im using AVG. i hope it blocks the virus -,-
-
BTW when you ripp off the UPC off the box, can you still return it? or not
whats the best anti virus out there that is free -
because i ripp it off to do the rebate -
I don't think so... that's why they tell you to wait until after the 21 day return period has expired before mailing in rebate forms.
-
4 times..wow..dunno if my printer rebate will last that long
btw how much time does it take to get the refund -
can you trace it to any spcific area on the notebook?
-
The noise is coming from the processor,
You can use this program:
http://cpu.rightmark.org/products/rmclock.shtml
Check the "Run HLT command when OS........"
Restart and the noise should dissapear or be very quiet
Good luck. -
my dv6000z isnt loud at all but you'd think a bigger machine would be louder but its not.
-
Hey Shlem, you sure about that?. If that's true you are about to be a lot of people's God in here.
A lot of people has been complaining about that issue.
Maybe somebody should create a new thread with this issue and solution in it. -
There is only one drawback to running the HALT command. It will not allow the CPU to go into deeper C2/C3/C4 deep sleep states, so you might experience reduced battery life(dont really have an idea by how much) and increased power consumption.
-
It's coming from the keyboard/speakers area, just like all other people who have this issue have reported.
I already tried this. Doesn't work. -
Well, it works for me,
about the battery it's true but i use AC power almost all the time -
just want to know, did you took the free upgrade for the brightview one? or you just stick with the original one? i took the free upgrade and i got SEC. Darn it. Does anyone know what should i do to ask them to change my screen? (return it or what?) But then again, since i purchased it using a 15% off coupon, i have to pay more if i purchase another (the coupon expired already)
